Sean C. Woodard, Consultant

Sean Woodard has a highly analytical mind, and he uses it to help FlashPoint’s clients perform better on an organizational level. While he customizes his approach for each client, in all cases he carries out his work precisely and methodically, helping clients define their overall organizational goals and exploring what people need to do every day to accomplish those goals. He identifies standard operating procedures, outlines processes employees must follow, and defines competencies they must demonstrate; he helps build training programs to give employees the tools and knowledge they need to be effective, develops performance management programs so managers can provide valuable feedback, and designs compensation and incentive programs to reward employees who contribute to the organization’s success.

Through Sean’s efforts, FlashPoint’s clients have seen significant improvements in efficiencies, increased profits, and smarter organizational design that facilitates growth and better utilizes employees’ talents.

Before FlashPoint
While completing an internship as an industrial hygienist for IBM, Sean recognized his interest in the dynamics and complexities of organizations—an area he was able to pursue further when he began working for Indiana OSHA. As Sean’s career progressed and he joined Bank One, he became curious about the effects organizational life had on employees, particularly on the way they carried out their duties. This curiosity eventually led him to graduate school, where he focused on ways to help organizations improve employee performance.

Education and Certifications
Ph.D. candidate in Instructional Systems Technology, Indiana University

Interesting Facts about Sean
Sean catered concerts when he was in high school; some of the people he encountered backstage include Run DMC, Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), Luther Vandross, Public Enemy, Guns N’ Roses, Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince (Will Smith), New Kids on the Block, Stevie Wonder, and Muhammad Ali (the greatest of all time).
Before he retires, he would like to be a part-time race car driver.
He has been in an open-top jeep surrounded by 14 lions, but he says that the rhinoceroses were much scarier.
