The Leadership Challenge

Join Us!

The Leadership Challenge® Workshop is a two-day program.

Please e-mail to learn when we'll facilitate our next Leadership Challenge® Workshop public session.

The Leadership Challenge® Workshop is a practical and hands-on program that is designed to inspire, engage, and help leaders develop the skills needed to meet whatever leadership challenges lie ahead. Through dialogue with other leaders and action-oriented facilitation, participants leave energized, inspired, and with a clear plan to take their personal leadership to the next level.

The Leadership Challenge® Workshop was developed by Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner, based on more than 30 years of research with over three million leaders. The program is structured around The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership® that Kouzes and Posner identified through their research:

  • Model the Way
  • Inspire a Shared Vision
  • Challenge the Process
  • Enable Others to Act
  • Encourage the Heart

In the highly interactive, experience-based program, participants learn how to:

  • Build credibility by ensuring consistency between their personal values and their actions
  • Create and communicate a shared vision
  • Align employee and team behaviors with strategic direction
  • Cultivate new operating methods, take calculated risks, and act strategically
  • Foster an environment of employee accountability
  • Give and receive feedback

A Key Component: The Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI) 360 Assessment

Prior to the workshop, participants take the LPI®: Leadership Practices Inventory®, the best-selling and most trusted leadership tool of its generation. The LPI helps individuals to measure the frequency with which they demonstrate The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership® and enables them to act on their discoveries. Leaders will gain deep insight into how they see themselves as leaders, how others view them, and what actions they can take to improve their effectiveness.

The program includes:

  • All participant materials, including the LPI, a participant workbook, a practice book, a vision book, values cards, and the best-selling book The Leadership Challenge: How to Make Extraordinary Things Happen in Organizations
  • An individual coaching call with the facilitator after the workshop to support development and action planning
  • An accountability partner to provide the participant with support and encourage follow-through
  • A webinar renewal session six months after the workshop to support ongoing accountability
